    On May 18, 2010 Institute of Physics of Advanced Materials celebrated its anniversary – 15 years from the date of establishment. A number of leading specialists from Russian universities and representatives of foreign companies came to congratulate the head of the Institute Ruslan Valiev and his team with this date.
    On May 18-20, 2010, in honor of the anniversary, IPAM organized the International conference on bulk nanomaterials: new ideas for innovations”. Over 100 people participated in it. The Poster session for young scientists and the Meeting on organization of a Scientific-technical Сenter of the Republic of Bashkortostan “Nanostructured materials and coatings” were organized within the frames of the conference.

    The review article “Principles of Equal-Channel Angular Pressing as a Processing Tool for Grain Refinement” by Ruslan Z. Valiev and Terence G. Langdon was published in Progress in Materials Science in 2006 (Vol. 51, pages 881-981).  This paper is now receiving more than 150 citations each year and it is the most cited paper to appear in the journal in 2006.  Based on this record, ISI/Thomson Reuters conducted an interview with Prof. Terry Langdon and the interview was added as a podcast to the Science Watch website in January 2010.  Information about these podcasts and the interview in mp3 are available here:

BNM-2009”, the international conference for young scientists with the elements of scientific school “Nanomaterials and Nanotechnologies in Metallurgy and Materials Science”, a set of round tables and the first specialized exhibition of high technologies.
